Launch!

Wondering what our refugee resettlement team has been up to? Well, we have exciting news. All their paperwork has been completed, so on Tuesday evening, two staff members from Catholic Charities met with our team to get us going! We learned that we're going to be partnered with an extended family of 22 people: men, women, and a lot of children. For their security, that's all we can say about them specifically. We can tell you that they've been in Columbia for some time, so our work won't include locating housing and furnishings for them. Instead, we'll be providing transportation, helping parents navigate the school system,

facilitating cultural awareness events, and helping them to create and maintain a household budget.

According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), there were 26,600,000 refugees at the end of 2021, the highest number on record. That number does not include Ukrainians displaced by the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February. The need for hospitality has never been greater. We are grateful for this opportunity to "welcome angels unaware" (Hebrews 13:2) by welcoming these 22 people to our community.
